This relatively new medium retains all the subtlety of the traditional method of printing etchings while the new photographic method of etching the solar plate avoids all use of chemicals and allows for a very spontaneous drawn or photographic image. Suitable for beginners or more experienced artists. For the August course John Sargeaunt will be on hand to help students who wish to create digital imagery for etching |
The tutor
Ruth Oaks is both painter and print maker and has recently been developing work in solar etching. She has shown prints recently at Artsway Open 06 and Originals 07 and her commissioned painting "Triptych of St Peter and St Paul" can be seen in Ringwood Parish Church. An original founder member of Poole Printmakers she is now proprietor of Poole Painting Studio
